Prof. Dr. Gökhan Meriç was born in July 1980 and graduated from Ege University Faculty of Medicine in 2004. In 2010, he completed his residency in Orthopedics and Traumatology at Dokuz Eylül University.

Currently, he serves as the Head of the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology at Yeditepe University Faculty of Medicine.

Dr. Meriç has extensive international experience. In 2013, he participated in surgical observations on shoulder and knee surgery at Scripps Clinic and Tri-City Hospital in San Diego, USA. In 2014, he worked as a research fellow at Scripps Clinic and Shiley Center in San Diego, USA, focusing on cartilage surgery and cartilage transplantation.

In 2018, Dr. Meriç was recognized by the European Society of Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery, and Arthroscopy (ESSKA-EKA) as one of the most promising orthopedic surgeons under 40 in Europe. He received knee surgery training in several European cities, including Innsbruck (Austria), Milan and Naples (Italy), Barcelona (Spain), Krakow (Poland), and Homburg and Bad Kreuznach (Germany). In 2019, he returned to Scripps Clinic in San Diego to continue his training and surgical observations in cartilage and knee surgery.

Since 2017, Dr. Meriç has been a faculty member at Yeditepe University Faculty of Medicine, where he also serves as the Head of the Orthopedics and Traumatology Department. He regularly teaches medical and residency students, contributing significantly to their education.

In 2019, Dr Meriç, who performed fresh cartilage transplantation after knee cartilage damage in Turkey, has performed many successful operations in this field and has given various national and international trainings on the subject.

Dr Meriç, who has more than 40 articles published in more than 40 national and international scientific journals, more than 50 national and international papers, has received the best study award at national meetings for 3 different studies.

He has also authored chapters in many books and has undertaken editorial duties in scientific journals. He has worked in 7 different national and international associations. He has also participated as a speaker in many national and international congresses.
